Kensington Palace confirmed the other day that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would be moving out of Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace in London to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, on the Windsor Estate. Frogmore House is where they had their wedding reception. Frogmore Cottage faces Frogmore House and it’s currently being renovated to accommodate the growing Sussex family.

Everybody’s talking about why the humans will enjoy the move. Nobody’s pointing out that the move is great for the dogs! There is so much green space in Windsor, they can go off-leash in Windsor Great Park! I’ve been through the park a few times, for a couple of hikes and a couple of runs, as my friend Lorella used to live in Windsor. Every time I was there I thought about how much fun my dogs would have and Jacek and I even talked about how they’d react to seeing the deer. Guy the beagle is going to love having Windsor Great Park basically as his backyard. He probably knows it well already, seeing ashe hangs out so much with the Queen. I wonder if Guy’s actually already been living in Windsor all this time; Windsor, after all, is Her Majesty’s preferred residence. Prince Philip was just seen there this morning driving his carriage:

As we’ve discussed, there’s been a lot of speculation over the last few weeks that William and Harry will eventually beseparating their courts. The Sussexes’ imminent move is now being seen as further evidence of that. And, of course, there’s been drama and gossip about it in royal circles. Look at the waythe Daily Mail is covering it:

Interesting word choice there to describeHarry: “dictatorial”? Because up to this point, it’s beenWilliamwho’s been saddled with the difficult reputation and fragile ego, someone who doesn’t appreciate being overshadowed, is "a little grand”, and prone to mood swings. Now it’s Harry being bossy and William andKatebeing presented as the more low-key couple between them and a new narrative is emerging – that Will and Harry and are drifting apart, and RoyalMeghanmight be to blame?

Royal Meghan Yoko Ono?

Please. Since when are siblings expected to live the same lives, next door to each other? Harry was never going to be Will and Kate’s third wheel forever and whatever rumoured tension is between William and Harry was likely there – because they are brothers – before Meghan arrived, just as there was friction, and a lot of it, between John Lennon and Paul McCartney, before Yoko came along. This story, though, the one in which we identify a woman and label her a divisive c-nt, is a tale as old as time.

The fact is, William and Harry, the Cambridges and the Sussexes, are two different brands. Just like Prince Charles and Andrew are different brands. Separating their courts was always inevitable. That said, to continue The Beatles analogy, Paul dragged his f-cking feet for yearsbefore finally admittingthat Yoko wasn’t to blame from the breakup of the band so I wonder how William will play this. He’s been the one who’s been called “work-shy”. He’s been criticized behind the scenes by courtiers at Clarence House and Buckingham Palace. Now shade is being thrown at the Sussexes. How much does he mind?
