There was a lot of sparkle at the Oscars, including Zendaya, my best dressed for the night in a crop-top button down and a high-waisted sparkle skirt by Valentino. It sort of reminds me of Sharon Stone’sGap button down paired with a Vera Wang skirtat the 1996 Oscars, except that Sharon went for plunge and Z went for midriff exposure.
Zendaya is always SUCH a style moment on any red carpet, can you IMAGINE what she will deliver when she’s a nominee? Or the year she’s favored to win? THIS is what she does when she’s just sitting in the audience, so her first red carpet as a nominee is going to be unreal.
Joining the sparkle club are Olivia Colman and Rachel Zegler, both in Dior. Olivia Colman looks like if Morticia Addams went glam for a night, which is a HUGE compliment because I love and admire Morticia Addams, my Goth Mother. Rachel Zegler’s gown, meanwhile, is both sheer AND sparkly, which is a LOT, but it’s also one of the least offensive versions of the sheer skirt/granny panty look I’ve ever seen. It’s hard to believe this is a last-minute look, except I wonder if she would have pulled something more colorful had she had more time to prepare. She favored brighter colors all season, but still, this is a solid turnout for her first Oscars.
