It is Met Gala tradition for the co-chairs of the Met Gala and a select few other VIPs to attend a small, private dinner hosted by Anna Wintour ahead of Monday night’s big spectacle. Vanessa Hudgens was there last night because she and LaLa Anthony are hosting Vogue’s livestream tonight during arrivals. So, basically, Vanessa is Anna-approved.

And why wouldn’t she be? Vanessa did great job hosting the Oscar pre-show red carpet a few weeks ago – we call that showing your work, and it was an outstanding showcase of her wide range of talents. She’s a proven live performer, and live SINGING no less (you know this if you watched her in Grease Live), and she’s also spent some time over the last few years getting into the rom-com thing with thePrincess Switchseries, but also can go highbrow in prestige features liketick..tick…BOOM!And now she’s flexing her range with the hosting opportunities. These are smart career moves, and I’ve no doubt she’ll be great tonight, although she does have some big shoes to fill becausedo you remember Keke Palmer last year?! Keke was so good she actually went viral herself, not for what she was wearing but for how well she was performing her job. Hoping to see some of that energy from Vanessa and LaLa tonight.

In addition to Vanessa, Blake Lively was also at Anna Wintour’s dinner last night. Blake and Ryan Reynolds are among the co-chairs for this year’s Met Gala and, to be honest, I’ve never loved Blake’s Met Gala choices but the dress she wore for the pre-event, this half suit half sparkle design (which you can see at the Daily Mailbecause I don’t have access to those photos) is maybe my favourite all-time best fit on her like ever. It’s basically a combination of her character inA Simple Favourand her personal red carpet vibe. Now I’m wondering if what she serves tonight can actually top it.
