Dear Gossips,

Best presenters last night at the Critics’ Choice Awards?

Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy. Catherine should also be considered one of the night’s best dressed. That suit was magnificent.

Catherine and Eugene were there celebratingSchitt’s Creekwith the entire team. They made history:

And their history is well-timed. Season 5 ofSchitt’s Creekpremiered on CBC in Canada last week, airing Tuesdays at 9pm.Schitt’s Creekpremieres in America THIS WEDNESDAY January 16 at 10pm ET/9pm CT on Pop TV. So… now that Critics’ Choice has finally recognised the show, when will the Television Academy wake up to it? It’s time, don’t you think? Get on board with theSchitt’s CreekEmmy campaign now.

But first, watch Season 5. And if you haven’t already, check out Dan Levy’s newinterview with The Advocateabout the specific decisions he’s made in writing the show, the stories he deliberately avoids, the stories he deliberately chooses to focus on instead, and the intention behind those decisions as a way to challenge homophobia, without compromising the charm and wit and fun and ridiculousness that the Roses bring to town.

Full disclosure for those who are new to this site – I know Dan, I have worked with Dan, so yes, I admire my friend for showing his work. Dan co-createdSchitt’s Creek, he’s one of the executive producers, he’s the showrunner, he writes, and he acts. He also, naturally, is deeply invested in the fashion and the show’s fashion choices – not a small thing since Moira is legitimately a fashion icon. He is one of Canada’s most important creative talents. And he’s only 35 years old.
