Last night was Variety’s Power of Women event in Los Angeles. Most of the top Best Actress and Supporting Actress contenders were there, including Carey Mulligan, Emily Blunt, Margot Robbie, Greta Lee, and Fantasia Barrino (who is just kicking off her appearances forThe Color Purple).

There was a芭比娃娃reunion of Margot Robbie, Dua Lipa, and Ariana Greenblatt, and fellow芭比娃娃Best Original Song contender Billie Eilish was also on hand. That’s the sound of all the air leaving the room. In a room that includes Leo and Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle is the reason most of you are clicking on this post. She attended solo, and I will forever love the Variety reporter who asked her aboutSuits’ renewed popularity on Netflix.

You know how Lainey went off on Jacob Elordi fordisrespecting接吻的展位? Well, I feel similarly about Meghan Markle andSuits. She doesn’t say anything bad about the show, complimenting the cast and crew and how fun it was to work on, but I admit to watching that interview clip with bated breath. I know she’s a duchess now, but she’ll always have been an actress first. Being on a popular, long-running television series is an accomplishment, even if said series isn’t the most serious, admired work. Millions of people loved it, millions of people STILL love it, it’s the thing that afforded Meghan the life that eventually led her to Prince Harry. Not that I thought she would, but I’m glad she didn’t sh-t on it, is all.
