Syfy’sDeadly Class,of which Lana Condor is one of the stars, premieres next week. Lana’s been doing some press to promote the series and she was a presence at several events during Golden Globe weekend, now that she’s the star of one of the most watched and rewatched movies on Netflix of 2018 and the star of her own Netflix movie franchise. Lana’s popularity from playing Lara Jean Covey is a major asset to other projects. She’s front and centre on theDeadly Classsocial accounts ahead of the series debut and if the show does well, she’ll be the face of two successful projects. Not bad for someone who got her first role in 2016.

While at the parties this weekend, of courseLanawas asked aboutPS I Love You的续集To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, directly addressing the imminent love triangle.

According to Lana Condor, who played Peter’s true love Lara Jean Covey in the first film, theTATBILBsequel will show Peter some serious competition.

“There's going to be a major new love interest,”she told ELLE.comat the BAFTA tea party in Los Angeles on Saturday. “The first one was with Josh and Peter, but in the second movie it's going to be a major new character that’s going to challenge Peter quite a bit and fight over me, which is not a bad thing.”

当粉丝怀疑这可能是三角恋爱thing since it's in P.S. I Love You, the second book of the Jenny Han trilogy the films are based on, it’s hard to believe anything could challenge the adorable Peter/Lara Jean situation. But Condor assured us, “It’s not a joke, it’s very real.”

Peter’s challenger will be John Ambrose McClaren and to make this work, as she said, to make it feel real, he has to be really, really special – and it doesn’t look like they’ve found the right person yet.

“I do know that we're working really hard to find someone that's perfect and just as charismatic as Peter, which is hard to do.”

I want that. I want that so bad. Because as I wrote last month about therumours that Cole Sprouse mightbe the one, you have to feel torn about this. It can’t be Peter, slamdunk, no doubts. There must be division, factions, Team Peter vs Team John – and not in a bullsh-tTwilightway where Jacob never had a chance. I’m talkingBuffy the Vampire Slayerstyles. I’m talking Angel and Spike. If you are aBuffyfan, you know what I’m talking about. You know how intense that sh-t was. Still is. Our site manager, Emily, when I asked her about this, just wrote back, “Team Spike all the way. Angel is such a f-cking (drag)”. When I laughed and told her to chill, she responded by saying she would absolutely not chill, which tells you how goddamn seriousBuffypeople are about this debate. (I look forward to the Team Angel emails yelling at Emily.)

That’s the way it has to be with Peter and John for Lara Jean. Which Lana understands:

We figure finding this as-perfect-as-Peter person could take a while, which might be a relief for Condor, who confessed to being a bit freaked out by the potential fan backlash when her character gives Peter the runaround. “I actually have that fear,” she said. “I’m scared.”

Yes, Team Peter is going to be PISSED. But they will only be pissed if they have something to be afraid of, if they’re threatened by John Ambrose McClaren and the possibility that he could be a greater fit for Lara Jean than Peter Kavinsky. So, yeah, take all the time you need to find that perfect JAM. It’ll only make the movie that much better. And it’ll bring up everyone’s game. It’ll bring up Noah Centineo’s game for sure.

By the way, Noah was not seen during Golden Globe weekend although he did tweet on Sunday, like during the actual broadcast:
