We’re heading into the final week of promotion for Baz Luhrmann’sElvis, when we get to see just how ready audiences will be to go back to theatres when it’s not a franchise film, not an action film. This is also the time before Austin-mania…

Right now, fans of Elvis Presley, of course, aren't super into Austin Butler but when the movie comes out and creates a whole new generation of Elvis fans, and particularly THIS generation of social media influencer and culture consumer who lives online, it means that Austin is about to blow up. He’s not a household name right now, like at this minute. Once the Elvis-via-Austin frenzy begins though, and it will, the minute the movie opens and people see it next week and start tweeting about it and pouring all their Elvis interest and desires into their IG stories and their TikToks, Austin Butler is about to become a big ass deal. The first comparison that comes to mind is Robert Pattinson andTwilight.

We are living the last days of pre-AustinMania. And we find him yesterday New York City onThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallonand making the talk show rounds. Kaia Gerber is with him on the trip. And maybe there’s a parallel there too. Back in the day, people were OBSESSED with Elvis and Priscilla. The internet is already kind of obsessed with Austin and Kaia and the movie hasn’t come out yet. Like Elvis and Priscilla, Austin and Kaia are ten years apart in age. Like the Presleys, they’re also ridiculously attractive. A week from now, all of this interest is only going to attract exponentially more heat.
