Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead were seen this week out on a walk in their neighbourhood with Ewan’s parentsjust as Page Six reportedthat they’re to be married today. It’s been five years since they started dating. And the start was messy.
Ewan and Elizabeth were working together onFargo. In the early part of 2017, she separated from her husband. Then a few months later, she and Ewan were seen kissing in London and it was revealed that he’d separated from his wife of 22 years, Eve Mavrakis. And it wasn't just that people were jumping to conclusions about the timing – in her public statements about the split, Eve seemed to suggest that the breakup wasn’t amicable. A couple of their daughters, Clara and Esther, later took the family drama to Instagram.
After a couple of years of tension, Ewan and Eva’s divorce在2020年完成. Ewan and Mary welcomed their first child, a boy called Laurie,last summerand Eve, around the same,went public about her new relationship, although I can’t find that photo anymore on her IG so I’m not sure of the current status.
Still, it does seem, that healing has happened as Clara has spoken on the record about putting the drama behind them and she has been spending time with her dad, Mary, and the baby. So it took a while…but eventually peace. And now a wedding.
And a wedding just weeks before the release ofObi-Wan Kenobi;the series premieres on Disney+ on May 27th and promotion has been picking up as interviews with Ewan and also Hayden Christensen’s return as Anakin Skywalker are circulating. Sarah will have more, I’m sure, on the latest Star Wars installment and the inevitable hype and angst and alllll the emotion that comes with it. My point here is that Ewan’s wedding is leading right into him stepping into the spotlight for work. It’s a time of personal and professional highs.
