In other Tom Holland and Spider-Man news though, his Spider-brother, Andrew Garfield was nominated or an Oscar for Best Actor, for his work intick…tick…BOOM!Andrew is also benefiting on his Oscar campaign from the popularity ofNo Way Home.I mean, among all Best Actor contenders, he’s the one who’s been seen during this award season by the biggest audience. It might not be for the film he’s nominated for but on visibility, he definitely has an advantage.
Andrew told Varietyafter he was nominated on Tuesday that he did hear from his fellow Spider-Men:
“Yeah I have! I got a sweet, sweet text from Tom and Tobey. Very, very sweet. The Spider brothers are in action today and they’ve been very, very supportive. It’s very lovely.”
“The Spider brothers are in action” is a good way of putting it. Tobey Maguire, by the way, was seen out with his Pussy Posse brother, Leonardo DiCaprio in LA yesterday – those shots are below.
And in addition to the support he’s getting from his Spider-kin, Andrew’s name is also coming up in other places,like Robert Pattinson’s new GQ cover feature, released this week. He is namechecked when RP is talking about how much he sucks at auditions and who he would always be auditioning for the same parts with: Eddie Redmayne and Andrew Garfield.
“If I hadn’t gotten really lucky,” he says, “and had instead been forced to audition all these years, I wouldn’t have a career at all. I’m so bad it.” He has vivid memories of having his lunch handed to him by the other actors his age. “Eddie Redmayne and Andrew Garfield were so f-cking good at auditioning, it’s just unbelievable. You’d see them, and then if you were waiting outside, you would literally hear casting directors inside going, Oh, my God! Oh, my God! And you’d be like, F-cking hell, who’s inside? And Eddie would come out and be like: Hey, mate. I’d be doing something thinking it was a comedy, and suddenly hear these heaving sobs. I’m thinking, Who has managed to get a sob out of this?! And then f-cking Eddie comes out, goddamnit.”
That’s a great anecdote, and it’s probably my favourite part of that Robert Pattinson interview. For Andrew though, I mean I’m not saying it’s going to secure him an Oscar in, come on now. But it can’t hurt that in an article about The Batman, Spider-Man Andrew Garfield shows up in a flattering way.
