Zoë Kravitz is not new to the Met Gala and certainly not new to killing it at the Met Gala. Did she look incredible last night? Yes. No doubt. She was in YSL, no surprise, since she’s a brand ambassador. The chain mail here is exquisite. There are YSL logos embedded into every piece, the detail is unreal.
That said…
It’s another naked dress. And while there’s an In America angle you can loosely apply to this – Bo Derek comes to mind for me and also the bikini in and of itself and its evolution in America – I wouldn’t say it’s anywhere near the most creative interpretation of the Met Gala theme this year. Her look might not be the most interesting part of her appearance though.
Channing Tatum showed up… and it was also his first time at the Met Gala. Just a quick note because I’m petty like that – you remember Page Six’s story a couple of weeks ago about Met Gala attendance and some Hollywood publicists sniping that there were too many influencers and it would be lacking A-listers? Channing Tatum is an A-lister. There were a LOT of A-listers. So whoever it was who was bitching is full of sh-t.
Anyway, Zoë and Channing did not walk the carpet together. But the fact that he showed up, this year of all years, after they’ve been seen around New York for weeks looking very much like they’re dating for weeks, they didn’t have to pose together to be together. Also…they left together, and that’s what counts.
