Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding is now 5 weeks away which means we’re getting updates every day. Yesterday they released thelist of charitiesto which guests have been requested to make donations instead of wedding gifts, which is also what Prince William and Kate did when they got married. Note that Meghan’s philanthropic interests, from even before she and Harry started dating, are represented here.

Today Kensington Palace sent out an advisory to the media about wedding guests – in particular world leaders.

"It has been decided that an official list of political leaders – both UK and international - is not required for Prince Harry and Ms. Markle's wedding. Her Majesty's Government was consulted on this decision, which was taken by The Royal Household."

Uppity ass English people and their language, I swear to God.

“Not required”???

Here’s the translation, in case there was any confusion, per royal reporter Richard Palmer:

So they weren’t invited then, right? Because they had to consult with the government on the decision to not “require” Theresa May and Barack and Michelle Obama and Donald Trump on the invitation list, making sure that no international diplomatic feelings would be hurt. And after that cleared, the decision to not “require” those dignitaries was then taken by The Royal Household. Uppity ass English people and their language, it’s so hilariously elitist. Now I think I love it. Next time you’re talking about who’s been invited to what, that, and the other, put it in terms of who is or isn’t “required”.

Anyway, so Harry and Meghan will have a dignitary-free wedding. Which, I suppose, was expected, especially since it’s not a state event. And Harry for sure probably prefers it that way, to not have to talk to a bunch of people with titles he doesn’t know. It also removes the political drama out of the conversation. Like already the seating plan just got a lot easier.
