Selena Gomez in Oscar De La Renta, my favourite look from the SAGs last night. And most of it has to do with how she felt in it – which is the key to any style moment. You have to feel what you’re wearing. And it really seems like she did.

Every decision here is the right one. The choker is excellent. I like the understated earrings. And I love her hair pulled back in a middle part showing off her skin glow and the neutral lip. This was Selena’s first SAGs, she was a nominee as part of theOnly Murders in the Buildingensemble, and she presented with co-star Martin Short, showing off the chemistry that has made the show such a success.
That also had to have been a point of pride. Because as she approaches her 30th birthday this summer, she has successfully transitioned from young and Disney to a powerhouse artist in adulthood with so much versatility. From music to lifestyle brands to starring in docuseries television to producing hit television dramas to working in independent film and now scripted comedy, Selena Gomez has quietly become a formidable all-rounder who makes good creative decisions. Being inOnly Murders in the Buildingwas a GREAT creative decision. And I’m not sure we’re giving her enough credit for it.
But seeing her walk across that stage last night to present, after kicking off her shoes, it doesn’t seem like she needs anyone else’s credit – and she shouldn’t. Not when she has the confidence in her own taste, in how she’s running her own show. You’re seeing it in the fashion but most importantly in the work.
