这是2022年,现在是虎年,抢劫ert Pattinson is a Tiger, and he and Suki Waterhouse are still together. There’s your romance update. Suki, by the way, was born under the sign of the Goat – and is a good example of how just going by birth year without doing the Chinese zodiac calculator isn’t always accurate. Suki birthday is listed as January 5, 1992. If you were to just google the zodiac year for 1992, it would tell you that it was a Monkey year. But the Year of the Monkey in 1992 didn’t begin until February 4 which means Suki falls under the Year of the Goat, which was between February 15, 1991 to February 3, 1992.

Anyway, back to the original point, Robert and Suki’s Tiger Goat love is still intact. They were out with friends together in LA as we get closer and closer to his highly anticipated debut asThe Batman.这部电影是3月4日,可能是of the most high profile releases of the year – because, of course, superhero movies and box office totals etc, but also because Batman in particular is arguably the superhero of all superheroes and that comes with, always, debate and fan fighting and nerd angsting, which in Robert Pattinson’s case seemed even more intense than usual, given the times we’re in.

Soon we’ll finally get to see Rob’s version of the Caped Crusader, and whether or not it was worth all the controversy. Wait, no. The controversy will probably still continue, considering people are still yelling about Justice League and Ben Affleck as Batman and/or moaning about Ben Affleck not being Batman. So I’ll amend that to… soon we’ll finally get to shout about something we’ve actually seen.

For the record, I think he’s going to be good it. As I wrote when the casting was first confirmed in 2019, Robert Pattinsonis the first millennial Batman. You need one for every generation. And he does that moody broody thing with a heaping spoon of freak. Freak is his word, by the way. That’s how he described what drew him to the rolein a new interview with Total Film.

Robert tells the magazine that he’d been following the industry updates on the situation for a while.

"I just kept obsessively checking up on it for the next year or so," he says. "Even my agents were like, 'Oh, interesting. I thought you only wanted to play total freaks?' And I was like, 'He is a freak!'"

That will give you some sense of his approach to the character – which I don’t think is anything new. I don’t have Bruce Wayne’s backstory memorised but even I know his parents were murdered in front of him and his butler is his best friend… not exactly the most wholesome upbringing. Pattinson:

"He’s got this enormous trauma inside him, and he’s built this intricate, psychological mechanism to handle it. It’s like a really, really, really bad self-therapy, which has ended up with him being Batman at the end, as self-help."

This is a relatively safe, unpolarising answer – I think, I don’t understand what sets the Batman-obsessives off and what doesn’t – but there’s still time. As Sarah has pointed out before, Robert Pattinson has been known during a press tour to just go off-book and mess around with his answers. It’s not like there’s going to be any shortage of press forThe Batmanso he’ll be taking a lot of question and perhaps getting creative with his responses. I can’t wait to see if he decides to just f-ck with the fans, serving straight up gibberish with some of his Batman backstory preparation.

Batman promotion is about to begin. And it’s going to be a lot. This is part of the job when you sign on the role. Looking forward to seeing how Robert Pattinson, who’s nearly a decade past Twilight, navigates this kind of heat. Twilight is one thing. But Batman is on a whole other level.
