I haven’t been posting much about the British royals the last few months because it’s just so boring, the same sh-t over and over again about whether or not they hate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and who’s not talking to whom and blowing sunshine up Prince William and Catherine’s ass about how they’re the rock stars of the Firm which…

Speaking of, here they are in Birmingham on a series of visits to mark World Mental Health Day which is one of their foundation’s priorities. Will and Kate participated in a series of workshops with young people to talk about their experiences and what they hope to see going forward in terms of youth mental health care access.

As I mentioned, since I haven’t been paying much attention to them recently, when these photos came up in my feed, it’s the first time I’ve really noticed how pronounced her curtain bangs are right now. As usual when it comes to Kate and style, she’s three or four years late to the trend. Then again, in her position as the future queen, she can’t really lead the way in this department. It’s much safer for the Princess of Wales to wait until a certain trend has fully entrenched itself in the culture and everyone is familiar with it before she can start wearing it herself. And the Princess of Wales, as we’ve seen, always plays it safe.

窗帘的刘海工作给她吗?我交流tually like the look on Kate – the problem isn’t the curtain but that she hasn’t changed up her makeup to account for them. Then again, she hasn’t changed her makeup in ever, this has always been an issue.

It’s the eye makeup in particular. This is such a dated way to do shadow and liner. Let me give you a closeup:

It’s a mid-2000s palette on her eye. And while the grey smokey eye on the bottom, while it works on some occasions with a specific wardrobe, looks super dated on her here with the outfit and especially the hair. It closes everything off – and makeup is supposed to open up the face, not shut it down. Look at her in this shot here: the hair is falling so nicely… but the makeup isn’t giving glow.

Here, contrast that with this – and, yes, I know this is JLo which is an unfair comparison but the colours here are similar but the effect is totally different.

It’s all in the product and the application. JLo is also with grey on her eyes. But the way the makeup has been applied, even though there’s a grey tone happening, it’s not taking light away from her eyes and her face.

I wish Kate would try a little sparkle. Not a lot, but so many of the shadows out there right now have a sheer shimmer, as you can see on JLo, and the colours are really subtle. Especially if you know how to blend. BLEND! Does Kate know how to blend?! The effect is not so much like true sparkle but rather it just picks up the light and brightens everything up. How hard can it be to get the future Queen of England some updated makeup lessons?!
