Dear Gossips,

Here in Toronto, the Raptors got their rings and the city got our banner last night ahead of the season opener. And then we beat the Pelicans. WORLD CHAMPS! I thought Drake would be in his seat – he wasn’t, but we’ll get to him later this morning.

Outside of Toronto though, the biggest game in the NBA was happening in Los Angeles as the Lakers played the Clippers, a marquee matchup featuring LeBron James and forever-in-our-hearts former Raptor and LA native Kawhi Leonard. As many others have noted, it felt like a playoff game. But I’m not here to talk basketball. I’m here to talk…fashion!

NBA players are already the most stylish of all the pros. Please, Canada, I’m Canadian, but don’t come at me with an argument in favour of hockey players because you know you are lying to yourself. One of the reasons pro athletes are so steezy these days is because the NBA players led the way. NBA arrivals in the tunnel have become like a runway, a red carpet. And speaking of red carpets…

Paul George was on the Clippers’ bench last night due to injury WEARING A TUX. A velvet jacket with a bow tie! And why not? It’s Hollywood, baby!

Paul George was dressing for a premiere – and what makes this extra amazing, because extra is the operative word, is that it WAS a premiere. It was his premiere as a Los Angeles Clipper. And if you can’t show up in your uniform, why not show up in a tux? Not that it matters but he has my full support. Sport is theatre. Sport is drama. Sport is as gossipy, if not more, as film and television. And he knew how many cameras would be on the court last night. Show off that tux – from every angle. They already have a 360 degree shot in there.

Finally, just to bring home the Hollywood connection, Paul and Kawhi were featured in a new commercial that aired during the game promotingTerminator: Dark Fate. This is why Kawhi was working out with Arnold Schwarzeneggera couple of weeks ago. He makes Arnold look TINY. And he’s actually not that bad with the line delivery which is a surprise since, you know, Kawhi doesn’t talk much. Paul, on the other hand…

Terminator: Dark Fate, which reunites Arnold with Linda Hamilton, comes out November 1. First reviews are now being published and they’re decent. No one’s hyperventilating yet but it sounds like it’s not a total bust.

Yours in gossip,
