Kerry Washington & Viola Davis: Black and White at the Emmys

Let’s start with Kerry Washington because sometimes, with some outfits, they can do 90% of the work on their own. And with other outfits, it all depends on the person to sell the sh-t out of it. This is what Kerry Washington did last night on the Emmys red carpet – she sold the sh-t out of the white shirt and the sequined pants, flipping her ponytail around, flirting with the camera. That’s how you take an outfit all the way there. Also, when the makeup is this good, the only thing you need is a white shirt. Look at this face!

Kerry, as usual, did not walk the carpet with Nnamdi Asomugha. There was a cutaway of them during the broadcast though – a quiet power couple.

As for Viola, this is custom Alberta Ferretti, so well-constructed it doesn’t need much. A classic wearing a classic. Her hair is amazing. The necklace is amazing. And the sneakers on stage to present were the most amazing. Viola was just named the new face of L’Oreal Paris almost exactly five years after awriter in The New York Timescalled her “less classically beautiful” than Kerry Washington and Halle Berry and tried to make that a compliment…? How’s that for walking on the earth (in sneakers!) because you have a right to be there?
