Speaking of celebrities dressing up, which I mentioned在前面的帖子about Thandiwe Newton and Nico Parker, Justin Bieber, who doesn’t often dress formally – in fact he dresses almost aggressively INformally – was out for dinner last night in a white suit with black lapels, and a cane. Drama!
And the occasion?
I couldn’t find one. Maybe there isn’t one. Maybe JB was just like, nah, I’m not going to kick it tonight in oversized shorts and a hoodie. Tonight I’m getting fancy for no reason whatsoever. I support. Sometimes I fantasise about going to the butcher or the grocery store in a ballgown.
Anyway, seeing JB looking great in this suit, now I’m wondering about JB at the Met Gala. He hasn’t been since 2015, the theme was China: Through the Looking Glass. And I LOVED his Balmain jacket:
That was in the before times though. Before his personal evolution. Before his marriage. Before COVID. Hailey Bieber, however, is now a consistent Met Gala presence, as models always are. And this year the Biebers have another reason to show up: Billie Eilish is one of the co-chairs, and JB and Billie are pretty close. It’s well-known by this point that Billie was obsessed with JB when she was a kid (a younger kid), and he’s become a mentor to her as she’s become more and more famous.
JB leads the nominations at the MTV VMAs which are the night before the Met Gala. So he’d be in town. And if he wants to go to the party, I can’t imagine Anna Wintour would say no.
