After the back-to-back highs of Venice and the Met Gala, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have kept it pretty low-key over the last week. Let’s not get greedy now – how much more do we need?
Well… it’s not like they didn’t give us anything. Adweek released the cover story for itslatest issue, featuring JLo, a few days ago and Ben was quoted in the piece, talking about how much admiration he has for her, the influence she’s had on the culture, the difference she’s made for her community, and how she’s built an empire with successful projects in multiple entertainment and lifestyle streams.

It was announced earlier this week thatThe Mother,the first feature that’s part of her deal with Netflix,has rounded out its cast。Gael Garcia Bernal, Omari Hardwick, and Joseph Fiennes will join JLo in the movie. Also Oscar nominee Paul Raci, who we last saw in last year’sSound of Metal. The Mother,in which JLo plays an assassin who has to break cover to protect her long-lost daughter, will be directed by Niki Caro so this is a solid team – and it means, too, that JLo is attracting talent, that other talented people want to work with her. Does she get enough credit for this? Will she get enough credit for this?
The Motheris supposed to start shooting imminently in Vancouver, at least that was the case last time I checked. For gossip purposes, if the schedule remains the same, it will mean that she’ll be busy through the fall, busier than she was this summer when she and Ben were able to give each other, and us, so much joy. That’s why we have to appreciate our summers!
Still, by all accounts, these two are committed to making it work – and if Ben, as mentioned yesterday with the confirmed release date ofThe Tender Bar, is going to be a factor during award season, both of them have the clout to make it work with the campaign schedule. You know, there was a time when Bennifer would not have been encouraged during an Oscar campaign. But did you see the celebrity reaction to Bennifer in Venice?
