Jake Gyllenhaal’s interview with Stephen Colbert onThe Late Showaired last night as he’s promotingStrange World, now playing in theatres. I personally haven’t had great experiences interviewing Jake but I’m small fry, and I can appreciate that he has always been fun on the late night talk show circuit which is why he’s clearly one of Colbert’s favourites. They’re delightful together.

The first part of the interview is really just the two of them goofing over sourdough and cooking turkey. This is when Jake declares that he’ll be at his sister and brother-in-law’s place for Thanksgiving and he’s responsible for doing the turkey and that he’ll be spatchcocking it. I don’t f-ck with turkey, so I had no idea what spatchcocking was until I just googled it. Supposedly the bird cooks more evenly this way and the skin is crispy and the meat is moist. Whatever, I don’t buy it. Moist turkey does not exist, you will never convince me and also, turkey has no flavour, doesn’t matter how you cook it.

To go back to Jake and Stephen though, their chemistry is extremely enjoyable to watch, doesn’t matter what they’re talking about. Until they get toRoad House. If you ask Sarah, she might consider a crime what happens next. Because… I think Stephen Colbert disrespectedRoad House. And there are a LOT of people who won’t stand for anyRoad Housedisrespect! It IS a classic! For me, it’s more of a classic thanLord of the Rings(Colbert loves Tolkien) because, like turkey, I will never, ever f-ck withLord of the Rings,我说我说!

This is how you can tell I’m not American because I have no Thanksgiving spirit today. Watch Jake’s appearance on The Late Show below. And on that note…Jake is in New York for Thanksgiving and was seen yesterday holding hands with Jeanne Cadieu. It will be their fifth Thanksgiving together.
