Dear Gossips,

In pop culture, as it is in every corner of life these days, there is much that divides us, so much that we disagree on. So let’s end the week and start the weekend with someone who only brings us together, someone we unanimously adore…

Keanu Reeves.

He was part of the Lionsgate presentation yesterday to close out CinemaCon in Vegas and the first trailer forJohn Wick: Chapter 4was shown to the audience. The movie does not come out until next March so I’m not sure they’re in any rush to release this for the rest of us, which is probably why the people there were jacked to see him and to preview the footage. When Keanu and director Chad Stahelski came on stage, the crowd reportedly started changing “你the man!”, which yes, is super cringey, but I’m less bothered by it with Keanu because I know he wouldn’t have responded to that by grunting and flexing.

As Lionsgate head Joe Drake said of John Wick, “We placed a bet: that Chad’s vision coupled with Keanu’s singular screen presence would rewrite the action genre. And that bet paid off for everybody.”

I don’t think that’s hyperbolic. John Wick is a big deal. The franchise so far has brought in almost $600 million with the second movie doubling the first’s box office and the third nearly doubling the second as the mythology around John Wick continues to grow. Keanu does have “singular screen presence”, and when he says in the trailer that “I’m going to kill them all”, I mean, it’s really that simple where John Wick is concerned. And they’ve never pretended that there’s anything more complicated going on here. He’s going to kill them all, brutally but also with style and elegance, and he’s definitely going to make sure the dog is OK since, well, as we allll know now, it was never “just a dog”. And that’s all we need the movie to be.

Does the dog get a name though? John couldn’t bring himself to name the dog because of what happened that started this whole mess but if the dog shows up again inChapter 4,I wonder whether or not it gets a name this time.

Speaking of dogs though, we don’t actually have to wait until next year for the next sighting of Keanu and a dog because he’s inDC League of Super Petscoming out in July, and he plays Batman. If you haven’t seen it, here’s the trailer. As usual, he’s perfect, and I can’t wait to see him on the press tour for this movie.

Anyway, please enjoy these beautiful pictures of this beautiful, beautiful human being, Keanu Reeves.

Yours in gossip,
