You want more examples ofhow cunning Brad Pittis with his public image? He is suing his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, for lawfully selling her share of Chateau Miraval, compelling her to reveal in a cross-complaint how he cockblocked her for years over the property and how he tried to silence her and how he’s been trying to financially control her… yet despite the disturbing allegations that have come out about him, he’s coasting. Because he’s so good at playing the media.

Brad covers two magazines this week. He appeared first on the cover of Billboard a few days ago:

And now today on the cover of How To Spend It (HTSI), the Financial Times luxury lifestyle magazine – because Brad is a man of the people, a man of the RICH people, in his favourite jumpsuit:

In Billboard, Brad shares the cover with music producer Damien Quintard. In HTSI, Brad’s with artists Nick Cave and Thomas Houseago, both are his close friends. The through-thread here is that Brad is part of an artist collective, an artist among artists – a beacon to other artists that they will find in him a kindred spirit. That he is one of them. That he is the best of them, out here opening up his chateau for musicians and other creatives, giving them a space where their ideas can thrive, where their art can bloom. Miraval, of course, will be the beating heart epicentre of all that artistic output. Brad Pitt, the landowner and the ultimate patron of the arts.

So why would we ever want to talk about him allegedly abusing his wife and children? For many major media outlets, they wouldn’t, not when there’s this kind of access available to one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, not when he’s getting so personal. Here’s part of what he saysduring his interview with HTSIabout why he’s now a sculptor:

“It’s all about self reflection,” he tells@craftacularukover tea in Tampere, Finland. “I was looking at my own life and really concentrating on owning my own sh-t: where was I complicit in failures in my relationships, where have I misstepped? For me, [the art] was born out of ownership of what I call a radical inventory of self, getting really brutally honest and taking account of those I may have hurt.”

Ownership? I’m not sure how suing your ex-wife and keeping her financially beholden through the courts and misrepresenting her involvement with Chateau Miraval through the media and calling her a liar when she’s advocating for the safety of their children qualifies as “owning my own sh-t” but here we are. Members of the media and the public will take these statements as a measure of accountability and remorse and give him a pass, conveniently overlook the fact that his children appear to want nothing to do with him, but continue to vilify her.

Because everyone wants to be invited into Brad Pitt’s little arts club. This is the fantasy that Brad has been selling. He did it in Voguewhen he was promoting his genderless skincare line:

“I have a lot of artist friends from different disciplines, and they were here this spring; we were having a laugh. One was working on his music [at Studio Miraval], one was painting, one was designing a clothing line, and so on and so forth. They’d go off to their respective corners to work on their respective things, and then we’d come back here to cross-pollinate over a meal, or a game of pétanque, in the spot we’re sitting in now. Making an artist community has always been the idea here, and it’s really nice to see that happen.”

The idea here is that Brad has built a bohemian utopia, a commune for creatives and free spirits, an interesting parallel to those commune scenes in his movieOnce Upon a Time… in Hollywood,意味着Spahn电影牧场,Manson Family was doing their Manson sh-t. In Brad’s case, this is an exclusive enclave for only the most elite and privileged artists. And, you know, in those environments, nothing shady ever happens! They’re artists – artists only reflect the good in our world!

但使用艺术的保护和其他艺术家to deflect attention away from the disturbing aspects of Brad’s life is sinister AF. There’s a whole Hollywood ecosystem that’s in place that’s enabling that effort. Andjust a general HIMPATHETICecosystem in our society that will always favour a beautiful, white, successful man.
