Dear Gossips,

My COVID relief last night was the Spelling Bee. I LOVE the Spelling Bee. And I love BTS. And those two worlds converged this year! We’ll come back to that in a moment. Let’s first celebrate Harini Logan, 14-years-old, from San Antonio, and now the 2022 Scripps Spelling Bee Champion who secured her crown in a spell-off tiebreaker. And if you haven’t seen it yet… well… get ready to feel like a dumbass, LOL.

How was she so calm?! How was she so quick? WHAT ARE THESE WORDS?!?!

If you want to see a full list of them, scroll down on that thread. Seeing them in writing doesn’t make it make any more sense to me but maybe they will to you.

And while we’re here, if you want to check in with last year’s winner, the unforgettable Zaila Avant-garde, the New York Times caught up with her this week –here’s the new profile, spoiler alert: she’s still dominating. And she’s also an expert analyst for the Spelling Bee.

Why not?

The expert commentators at sporting events are often former competitors and that’s exactly the role that Zaila played as the NYT’s Spelling Bee analyst last night.

As for the Spelling Bee and BTS worlds colliding…

Congratulations Harini!

Yours in gossip,
